Create a Builder's Website
For this project I am deciding to avoid using any type of
software that would require me staying up to date with any type
of updates. WordPress and other Content Management Systems are
great and very user friendly, but the task of updating templates,
plugins, or backing up the databases are all tasks I prefer to avoid on
this site. By using Kompozer, free open source HTML Editor, I
will be creating each of my webpages on my desktop and then uploading
the files to my webhost. Using this method, I will be maintaining
a backup copy of my website should my files be lost on either my
harddrive or the webhost. Every harddrive will eventually fail,
so remember to keep your files duplicated.
Webhost & Domain
- Bluehost.com is used to host my website & register
my domain. I find BlueHost to be user friendly and they have
great customer support.
Software Used for Website:
- an open source html editor, to easily create my wepages.
Kompozer is not much different than using a word processing
program; so it's a user friendly program.
- FileZilla Client - Open source
File Transfer Protocol used to transfer all files from my desktop to
the webhost server.
